50 for 50 Challenge- Get It Right, Get It Tight
Studies have found it takes about 66ish days for a new behavior to become an automatic habit. Well, ain’t nobody got time for that. However, 50 days seems do-able. We can do anything for 50 days, right?! We shall see.
During our half marathon training, we fully expected to be in the best shape of our lives, looking like Victoria’s Secret models. Ironically enough, that didn’t happen (we don’t think the pasta helped). We noticed significant changes to our bodies, but not all in a good way. For example, our booties got flatter and saggier. NOBODY WANT A FLAT BOOTY. If you’re a runner, you probably know what we’re talking about. When you’re running 10+ miles a day you don’t really have time for any other workouts (like yoga, weightlifting, etc). It is April now, which means summer is right around the corner. We have decided to kick start our summer bod with a 50 day challenge: 50 squats and 50 crunches. Every single day. We have created our own calendars to let us know what type of squats and crunches are scheduled for that specific day. We have to spice things up a bit, so we are challenging ourselves to a variety of both exercises.
Now, don’t get it twisted thinking we’re only consumed with our physical appearance. Absolutely not. However, we do believe you need to take care of yourself: physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually- all of it. How you treat your body is typically a reflection of what is happening on the inside. If you’re super tired, are you drinking enough water? If you feel bloated and sick, are you eating well? As much as we’d both love to live on brownies and pizza, while binge watching Vanderpump Rules, we can’t. This challenge is supplemental to our other daily workouts, but we thought this would be a fun way to hold each other accountable and it is QUICK.
This may feel like a small goal, but doing something every single day and being intentional about finding the time is super important. If you’d like to join us on this 50 day journey and use our handy-dandy (and cute) calendars, we’d love that. Let us know so we can hold you accountable too and check out your booty progress. Kidding. Sort of. Click on the picture of each calendar below to download yourself a printable PDF of each. Hang it on the fridge. the mirror in your bathroom, or even on the wall in your office. Squat, file, squat.
So let’s do this. Let’s make time to take care of ourselves. Our bodies are temples, people. And don’t you forget it. Peace out, double butt. Hello abs. We actually aren’t sure about abs- we hear those are made in the kitchen, so we won’t hold our breath for that. But balance.
**Bonus challenge: Do one thing every day that makes you smile.
