Three Books You Must Read Right Now- 2019 Quarterly Review
It’s that time again, folks. The quarterly review of three books we’ve read recently that YOU don’t want to miss. In case you missed the first review of 2019, you can check it out here. For our mid year review, we have actually decided to share a few books that have come from our summer reading list, plus an extra (just to keep things spicy).
The first selection is an Ashley-only book (remember, Jesse is scared of most everything). The Couple Next Door is a psychological thriller that keeps you on your toes! Quick synopsis: a baby is stolen from her home in the middle of the night while her parents are next door at a dinner party. Why was the baby home alone? Who took her? What will happen?! All questions that will have your mind reeling. So many lies, so much betrayal and as soon as you think you have a grasp on what the hell is happening everything gets flipped on you once more. This book will have you questioning everyone you thought you could trust. As my Crime Junkie girls always say, you never REALLY know anyone.
Five Feet Apart by Rachel Lippincott. We are both suckers for “young adult” fiction (cue teen angst). We also love when they make movies out of books we love. So here’s a double-whamy. This book is about two teens with Cystic Fibrosis, who also happen to be polar opposites. Of course their worlds are going to collide and they will establish a mutually beneficial ying and yang relationship. Of course they’ll fall in love BUT WAIT. Their disease will make their relationship exponentially more difficult and heart-wrenching. We love it. And the movie is also fantastic. Sounds like a great girls’ night to us. Bring on the wine and tears.
This one was not part of our summer reading list; however, it’s worth a read right now just the same. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine sucks you right in. Eleanor is such an odd character and the longer you read, the more you find out why. She has, through a series of events, been kept quite isolated throughout her life. You can’t help but feel for her. We were so excited when a friend came into her life (whether she wanted one or not) and shook everything up. Such a feel good story. Oh, and this one is getting made into a movie too! Hell yes.
So now tell us, wtf are you reading?!
